How to compress an image to 100 KB

  1. Add your image. JPG, PNG and WebP files work.
  2. Keep Target size selected and choose 100 KB. Use the chips for 20, 50, 200 or 500 KB.
  3. Pick WebP for the smallest file, or JPG if the site you upload to does not accept WebP.
  4. Check the result, then save it. If it looks too soft, raise the limit a little.

To reach a size limit, the tool lowers quality first. If that is not enough, it shrinks the image step by step. Compression is lossy, so a smaller file always means some lost detail.

Questions

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. Compression happens inside your browser tab. The files never leave your device.

Why is WebP smaller than JPG?

WebP uses a newer method that usually saves more space at the same visible quality. It also keeps transparent backgrounds from PNG files. JPG fills transparent areas with white.

Why did my file not reach the target size?

Very detailed photos can need a lot of data. Try a larger target, set a smaller max width, or switch to WebP.

Can I compress many images at once?

Yes. Add several files together and each is compressed to your settings. Use the ZIP button to save them all.
